Mark Fifer is a musical director, vocal coach, arranger and composer in New York City, balancing the worlds of pop/rock performance and musical theatre.
Mark has served as music director on NYC and regional productions of FAME (Macao/China), THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, THE WHO'S TOMMY, KISS ME, KATE, WILLIAM FINN'S ELEGIES, RENT (Regional Premiere), THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, CABARET, BARE, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, ALL SHOOK UP, RAGTIME, URINETOWN, VIOLET, INTO THE WOODS, PIPPIN, WEST SIDE STORY, more. Readings/Workshops: FACTORY GIRLS, .22 CALIBER MOUTH, COLLEGE: THE MUSICAL!, THE UNAUTHORIZED AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF SAMANTHA BROWN, more. He is also MD/arranger/co-creator (with Jason St. Little) of the enigmatic TITS FISHER WITH KITTEN’S KISS (Zipper Theatre, Ars Nova, and Hangar Theatre).
Mark is featured as the MD/vocal consultant on Broadway Dreams, a reality show for Brazilian network TV (currently in production). Mark has been Staff MD for the BFA Musical Theatre program at Pace University since 2004, and is a guest lecturer at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and NYFA. Previously, Mark was on the music faculty at Jacksonville State University (AL), and served as Musical Theatre Coordinator at the Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School & Camp (CO) as well as Coordinator of the P-M “Art of Cabaret” Workshop.
His pop/rock transcriptions can be found in hundreds of audition books in NYC, LA, and beyond. Current writing projects include OLYMPUS DESCENDING (a gene-splicing of musical comedy and opera genres, with librettist Timothy Ballard) and a musical about go-go dancers.
He and his wife Bess, a casting director, reside in Manhattan.
